HJF is seeking an Epidemiologist IV to support the Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) located at the Rockledge Office in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CPDR. US citizenship is required.
CPDR is a comprehensive research program to study prostate cancer and prostate disease, CPDR was established in 1992 (Public Law 102-172). The programs mission is fulfilled primarily through its three principal programs: (1) the Clinical Translational Research Center; (2) the Basic Science Research Program, and (3) the Tri-Service Multicenter Prostate Cancer Database to encompass its clinical research work with participating military medical centers.
Provides epidemiological, computer programming, biostatistical and laboratory procedure support for a specified project in the field of prostate cancer.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates epidemiological studies supporting the research project. (50%)
Provides consultation regarding study design and necessary statistical analysis. This includes advising on designing studies, analyzing statistics and epidemiological interpretations of the research. (30%)
Initiates, designs, and implements epidemiological studies supporting the research project. (10%)
Portfolio management including proposal review and project evaluation. (10%)
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience in prostate disease/cancer research strongly preferred. Must have experience with oncology research. Knowledge and ability to use and teach complex epidemiologic research methods for assessing the risk of disease in humans due to potential risk factors; advanced knowledge in computer programming with experience with advanced multivariate statistical methods; knowledge of statistical and mathematical software including SAS, MINITAB, and BMDP; excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be familiar with grant writing and have a sufficient amount of publications (author and/or co-author).
Minimum Education: Doctoral degree is required.
Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 6-8 years of relevant work experience required.
Work Environment: Set in an office research environment.
Background/Security: U.S. citizenship required; eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust and a Common Access Card (CAC).
