Job Description

The position is established to support mainly the Chartering-in and occasionally the Chartering-out of the Group’s tonnage. The Chartering-in is necessary to support Group’s operations in offshore projects ranging from small boats such as CTVs,GVs, Multicats, Tugs or Barges up to larger units as SOVs, CSOVs, CSVs etc. The Chartering-out of tonnage is required when Group’s marine assets are not needed in Group’s projects. Part of the duties will be to liaise with the Proposals Team, Project Managers Team, Project Engineers Team, Engineering Studies Teams and Project Supplies Team with regards to the commercial, contractual, operational, technical and planning requirements pertaining to marine means necessary for each project and exploring solutions in the charter market. The Chartering Specialist will be a member of the Business Solutions Division and work closely with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Charter market mapping, with respect to specific vessel categories which of interest to the Group, and production of reports for BoD.

  • Chartering-in of all marine assets necessary for Group’s operation (including negotiation, contracting, post-fixing support).

  • Identification of chartered vessel synergies on a portfolio level.

  • Chartering-out (occasionaly) of selected Group vessels when available (including negotiation, contracting, post-fixing support).

  • Maintaining contacts with Brokers, direct Charter clients and vessel Owners.

  • Ensure compliance with the contract (Charter Party) requirements and coordinate internally for the monitoring of Company’s entitlements and the fulfillment of Company’s obligations.

  • Perform post award management on a strict timeline basis including:

    • Following the time schedule of the project execution from a contractual point of view including the management of the company’s rights and obligations (including the drafting, submission and handling of any type of requests, notices and other documents towards the company’s counterparty)

    • Organizing and keeping records of the Charter Parties status, rights obligations including properly maintaining company’s “Charter Parties Registry”.

    • Drafting and overall handling of company’s responses to counterparties

  • Analyze contracts (Charter Parties) with an eye toward reducing costs and increasing profits.

  • Ensure all contracts (Charter Parties) conform to legislative requirements, align with company policies and meet company commercial and contractual goals.

  • Communicate terms and conditions to managers and interested parties as well as ensure that employees comprehend and comply with company contracts.

Requirements

  • A higher university degree in Marine Shipping and/or Business Studies.

  • 5-10 years related experience;

  • Proficient knowledge of BIMCO Supplytime and Windtime Charter Party Contracts.

  • Basic knowledge of BIMCO Smartcon® platform for editing Charter Party Contracts.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language.

  • Ability to react well, with tact and judgment at all communication levels.

  • Knowledge of contract management.Additional working knowledge of other foreign languages, (e.g. Italian, German, French etc.) are not prerequisite but are to be considered as extra skills.

  • Strong ability to represent the company properly.

  • Flexibility in work habits and work schedule.

  • Occasional travelling and overseas stays may be required in the line of business duties.
