Responsibilities:
- Build rapport and trust with children and adolescents, establishing strong therapeutic alliances and a collaborative approach to treatment.
- Provide individual and family counseling using evidence-based therapeutic modalities that are developmentally appropriate for youth, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A).
- Assess and treat a wide range of mental health issues affecting children and adolescents, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, behavioral challenges, and family conflict.
- Use creative and engaging techniques that help children and adolescents process emotions, develop coping skills, and build self-esteem.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care and support for each client.
- Complete documentation in accordance with TheraCorp policies, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Monitor and communicate changes in client status, and work with the treatment team to adjust care plans as needed.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Must be licensed in one of the following: LSW, LAC, LAMFT, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Psychologist.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in providing mental health services to children and adolescents.
- Specialized Training: Training or experience in evidence-based therapies for children and adolescents, including CBT, TF-CBT, Play Therapy, DBT-A, or other modalities relevant to youth mental health.
- Experience with Youth Issues: Knowledge and experience addressing common childhood and adolescent issues, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and family conflict. Ability to assess and work with co-occurring issues like social, academic, and behavioral challenges.
- Therapeutic Skills: Expertise in engaging children and adolescents through developmentally appropriate techniques. Experience with family therapy or parental coaching is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively connect with children, adolescents, and their families. Creativity in delivering therapy in a way that resonates with young clients.
- Commitment to Continued Learning: Engagement in ongoing education, training, or supervision related to child and adolescent mental health to stay current with best practices and emerging treatment methods.
