POSITION SUMMARY:

This position involves both cleaning and laundry duties, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and returning linens, as well as cleaning and maintaining the laundry area and other common areas. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Tasks:

Collecting and Sorting:

• Gathering soiled linens and clothing from various areas (Sorting laundry by type (e.g., whites, colors, delicates) and fabric. 

Washing and Drying:

• Operating washing machines and dryers, following proper procedures for different fabrics and stains. 
• Ensuring proper load sizes and using appropriate detergents and water temperatures. 

Folding and Storage:

• Folding and organizing clean linens and clothing. 
• Storing clean items in designated areas, such as linen closets or resident rooms. 

Maintenance and Cleanliness:

• Maintaining a clean and organized laundry area. 
• Ensuring that laundry equipment is in good working order and reporting any issues. 

Other Duties:

• Assisting with unloading of laundry supplies and equipment. 
• Potentially performing minor repairs on laundry items. 
• Following safety protocols and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Physical Stamina: Laundry attendants need the physical strength to lift and move laundry loads, often weighing 20-50 pounds, and the stamina to stand and walk for extended periods. 
• Basic Understanding of Laundry Procedures: Familiarity with basic laundry operations, including washing, drying, folding, and sorting, is beneficial. 
• Attention to Detail: Laundry attendants need to be detail-oriented to ensure that laundry is handled correctly and to identify potential problems. 
• Organizational Skills:  Good organizational skills are necessary to manage laundry loads and keep the work area tidy. 
• Time Management:  Laundry attendants often juggle multiple tasks, so strong time management skills are essential. 
• Communication Skills:  Good communication skills are important for interacting with colleagues and potentially customers. 
• Ability to Follow Instructions: Laundry attendants need to be able to follow instructions and procedures accurately. 
• Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Laundry facilities can be busy, so the ability to work efficiently and under pressure is important. 
• Customer Service Skills: Depending on the workplace, laundry attendants may interact with customers, so strong customer service skills can be beneficial. 
• Previous Experience: While not always required, previous experience in laundry, housekeeping, or hospitality roles can be an asset. 
• Bilingual Skills:  In some locations, being bilingual can be a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $21.00
