Job Description
We're looking for a passionate and experienced Drone Pilot/Instructor to join our team! If you have a love for FPV (First Person View) drone flying and possess in-depth knowledge of FPV systems, components, and flight theory, we want to hear from you. This position offers the flexibility of remote work for about 50% of the time, with the remainder requiring onsite presence. As a part-time, contract-based role, your schedule will depend on the number of courses and requests for custom training.
Key Responsibilities:
FPV Drone Troubleshooting & Repair: Perform inspections, troubleshoot, and repair FPV drones, including component replacements as needed.
Pilot Training & Safety: Guide new pilots on safe FPV flying practices, ensuring they understand the fundamentals and safety procedures.
Aeronautical Decision-Making: Help students understand and apply aeronautical decision-making principles during flight.
Advanced Flight Skills Instruction: Provide hands-on instruction for Acro Mode flying, FPV racing techniques, freestyling, videography flying, and other advanced maneuvers.
FPV System Expertise: Use your knowledge of FPV VTX systems, radio theory, and tools like OpenTX (Tango II), TBS Crossfire, and Betaflight to enhance pilot training.
Drone Building & Customization: Assist with programming, binding, troubleshooting, and modifying drones to meet specific standards, as well as utilize soldering and fabrication skills for drone construction.
Coaching & Support: Offer ongoing coaching and support for beginner FPV pilots as they progress through their learning journey.
Key Qualifications:
FPV Experience: Extensive hands-on experience in FPV drone building, flying, and repair.
Flying Skills: Advanced Acro Mode flying skills with precision maneuvers are highly desirable.
Specialized Experience: FPV racing, freestyling, and videography flying experience is a big plus.
Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Betaflight is essential; familiarity with Ardupilot/PX4 is a bonus.
Technical Skills: Experience with soldering, 3D printing, and drone component assembly.
Teaching Ability: Strong communication skills and the ability to teach FPV piloting to students.
FAA Part 107 License: Preferred but not required.
FPV Training Experience: Previous experience training others in FPV flying is a major advantage.
Other Requirements: Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally, and be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance if necessary.
