Job Description

Akkodis is seeking an Entry/Junior-level Powertrain Calibration Engineer position for a job with a client in Farmington Hills, MI is available courtesy of Akkodis.

  • Rate Range: $42.00 to $45.00/hour. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location and other factors.
  • Duration: 10+ months with strong chance of converting to a Direct Hire position.

Job Description

Powertrain Calibration Engineer has following responsibilities:

  • Setting of control system parameters with respect to energy usage, torque security, emissions, fuel consumption, performance, combustion and diagnostics to reach project requirements.
  • Optimization according to engineering targets regarding performance, engine/vehicle emissions, start ability, secure operations, and diagnostic functions.
  • Definition of e-drive, engine, and vehicle tests needed to reach customer performance requirements.
  • Using advanced data analytics tools to analyze measurement data
  • Programming (fine tuning) of test programs for optimization under automatic operation.
  • Evaluation and presentation of powertrain, engine, and vehicle test results.
  • Verification of engine and vehicle emissions control devices for capability to achieve required emission level.
  • Support of customer and engineers from other department in propulsion and engine performance related topics.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 12 weeks per year.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering.
  • Must have experience in edrive or engine controls or powertrain experience (experience can include co-op, internship, professional experience, or experience with Formula SAE, Formula Hybrid, SolarCar, FutureCar, EcoCAR or other vehicle).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated Successful Calibration Lead Responsibility of at least one Customer Program
  • Experience in vehicle drive-ability calibration and control
  • Experience in a customer facing or customer interaction role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical hardware and software systems.
  • Hands-on experience understanding and working with complex control functions.
  • Excellent system level problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent data analysis and presentation skills.
  • Effective customer communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership ability to foster teamwork, and drive resolution of issues.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of MS office programs (including MS-Project), email clients and databases
